With so many beautiful new colors and Fall accents to choose from, it’s sometimes hard to know which decorating trends to follow. That’s why I’ve pulled together a list of the hottest colors and trends, along with ways you can incorporate them into your decor.
Fall Pantone colors for 2013 include a slew of rich hues like burnt orange Koi, chocolaty Carafe, pale-moss Linden Green and regal Emerald green. Read on to learn how to pair these gorgeous hues for a pulled together, designer look.
Go Bold: Koi and Emerald
Make a statement at the front door, dinner table or fireplace mantle. Bring spicy, orangey Koi into your Fall décor with pumpkins and maple leaf garlands. Add a dash of Emerald with Spanish moss or manicured topiaries. At the dinner table, Koi cloth napkins, bone white dinnerware and Emerald goblets bring a festive flair. Add an extra layer of on-trend style with a burlap table runner, wood grain table accessories and a petite pumpkin at every place setting.
Also, I think preppy Emerald plaids and Koi throw blankets add that much needed cozy Fall warmth to any living room. And, finally, Koi accessories intermingled with natural Emerald greenery will brighten any mantle.
Bring the outdoors in with this earthy Fall/Winter 2013 trend. The Pantone color of choice for this winter lodge look is Carafe, which reminds me of a hot cup of coffee mellowed with just a splash of cream. Curl up indoors when it’s cold outside with neutral creams and whites, as well as natural textures from burlap and fur to wood grain and wicker. For pops of natural color, add a dash of Emerald greenery or soft Linden Green.
In stores, you’ll find plenty of accessories for this woodsy look. Burlap, driftwood sticks, pine cones and acorns are the perfect accents. Wrap these into Emerald green garlands, wreaths and centerpieces. At the table, use burlap table runners, and add shine to centerpieces with mercury glass. To complete the winter lodge look, find a faux fur throw or two to drape across your favorite plush seating.
Glamorous Metallic Monochrome
Luxe and sparkle define this Fall/Winter trend. While metallics aren’t listed on the Pantone Fall 2013 color list, they’re trending and look beautiful with some of the season’s hues. As far as metals go, brass is definitely the major trend of the moment. Play with color schemes of brass and Carafe, or brass and mossy Linden Green. Pump up the glam with glistening surfaces, including mirrors and glass. When it comes to furniture, dinnerware and decorative accents, metallics are especially prominent.
Bring this monochrome and metallic trend to your doorstep or centerpiece by painting your Fall pumpkins with metallic paints. Coat them completely with gold, for example, or paint them with golden strips or polka dots. A pumpkin arrangement looks beautiful with a mix of metallic colors, and various sized pumpkins in groupings of 3s, 5s and 7s.
