“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” Helen Keller
Whatever the industry, networking with knowledgeable peers and engaging in continuing education is a cornerstone of success. As a long-time home stager, and the 2016 Real Estate Staging Association (RESA) Texas State President, I’m aware of trends and the practical applications required to bring them to life. Most of all, I’ve become accustomed to how quickly home trends move. Staying relevant in the marketplace is essential as a home-stager, as well as being adaptable to the changing needs of clients. At our most recent event, the RESA Texas Roundup, we discussed these important topics, as well as provided motivation for our local community of home stagers.
Our 2016 RESA conference, held for Texas-wide RESA members, took place at the Austin Board of Realtors on Sept. 15. More than 60 professional home-stagers from RESA chapters in San Antonio, Houston and Dallas gathered for networking, lunch and education. Attendees received gift bags filled with goodies and mementos, as well as played games that encouraged networking and achievement.
RESA CEO Shell Brodnax — who was also one of the RESA featured speaker’s — offered advice on marketing for the industry, as well as the importance of belonging to a trade organization.
“It is so amazing to see professional real estate stagers taking advantage of the opportunities that RESA provides to our members,” she said. “Realtors have been taking part in their trade association for 108 years, and now real estate stagers have the same opportunities through RESA. By participating in RESA, stagers are elevating their profession to new levels.”
We were pleased to have a range of seasoned stagers on our round-table panel. These individuals brought invaluable resources and information to our RESA conference members. The lineup included RESA CEO Shell Brodnax, Karen Eubank/Region Ten Vice President, Myself/Texas State President, Karen Otto/Dallas Chapter President, Lakeitha Smith/Houston Chapter President, Leslie Causey and Lee Ann Kramer of the RESA San Antonio Chapter (who answered questions on business, marketing and sales). And Amy Von Andrian/RESA Central TX Program Chair facilitated the event.
Everyone who attended and supported this second ever RESA conference embodied the vision we had in mind when we created the Real Estate Staging Association. Stagers coming together and learning from one another brings new opportunities and growth for the home staging industry. Events like this are crucial for home stagers to attend … to not only learn from our collective challenges, but to become aware and motivated by opportunities. We are very proud of this year’s turnout and can’t wait to do it all again next year.
